Intrinsic Fluorescence Correction

VeraLight's key invention is extraction of the intrinsic fluorescence of the skin by normalization of tissue optical properties between individuals. This key step is accomplished by measurement of reflectance spectra over the excitation and emission wavelengths to compensate for the absorption differences due to skin color (melanin content) and blood supply, plus scattering differences due to skin layer thickness and collagen organization. The inter-subject differences in these tissue optical properties would overwhelm the skin AGE fluorescence signal without normalization.
